INFORMATION ON THE STUDY PROGRAMME

CONTENT / OBJECTIVE

In the seventh and last "top-up" semester, students deepen their understanding of urban and contemporary dance and develop personal and comprehensive approaches and form through artistic research, in particular through the merging of the two dance styles.

The students expand their dance skills and creativity through dance classes, lectures, seminars, practical research exercises, learning excerpts from the existing repertoire and interdisciplinary excursions. Focus is placed on individual and personal contact with what is being learnt and developed.

BACHELOR THESIS

The students acquire both further specific practical knowledge and theoretical knowledge, and push against the boundaries of their interpretative potential. This includes research methods applied both in theory and in practice that, alongside dance practice and training, hold historical, reflective, analytical and medial aspects.

The Bachelor thesis serves to illustrate the fundamental experience and knowledge gained over the student's three and a half years of study.

It is intended as a platform on which the students can optimally coordinate and strengthen their technical foundations, their dancing skills and their artistic talents. The Bachelor thesis provides a unique portrait of their acquired knowledge and perspectives in a portfolio – work that the student presents independently as a final examination at the end of their studies.

INSTRUCTORS

The participants are taught by HF ZUB / BA UCD instructors as well as international guest instructors and choreographers. The course programme emphasises a close connection to artistic practice.
